Gunmen have invaded Grow Homes Estate in the Chikakore area of Kubwa, Abuja, the Punch Newspaper has reported.
The development is coming few days after heavily armed men numbering about 40 invaded EFAB Global Estate, in Idu, Abuja, and reportedly abduct scores of residents.
According to the report, the incident occurred between 12am and 1:30am early Monday morning.
One of the residents who witnessed the incident said a man and a woman were taken away by the kidnappers.
However, by daybreak, the woman was found within the estate, having been released by her captors for reasons that remain unclear.
At the time of filing this report, the exact number of abducted victims is still unknown.
“The incident happened around 12am. Those guys were well-armed, and they overpowered the local vigilance team.
“The police came at about 1am, and there was a fierce exchange of gunfire for about 30 minutes.
“We are begging the government to fix this road for easy access for security patrol vehicles. We also beg the police and, of course, the FCT Administration to help site a station here for rapid response,” a resident said.
