The defendant, who resides in Ido town, Ibadan, is standing trial on two counts of fraud and theft.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Oluwafemi Ajayi alleged that the defendant committed the offence in June 2024.
He was alleged to have fraudulently obtained N2.3 million from Mrs Kajobola Olanireti, promising to sell her four plots of land in Laito Village, Ido.
Mr Ajayi alleged that the defendant failed to allocate the said piece of land to the complainant.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant stole the money rather than fulfilling his promise.
The offence contravenes the provisions of sections 390(6) and 419 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs A. T. Oyediji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She consequently adjourned the case until May 12 for a hearing.
