The Supreme Court has upheld the election Monday Okpebholo as governor of Edo State.
The election of the All Progressives Congress, APC, governor is being contested since the September 21, 2024 Edo gubernatorial election.
Delivering judgment on Thursday, the five-member panel of the apex court, unanimous held that the appellants, the Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP, and its candidate in the election, Asue Ighodalo, failed to establish their case with sufficient and credible evidence.
In the lead judgment, Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba held that the appeal lacked merit, he dismissed it and affirmed the May 29 judgment of the Court of Appeal, which earlier upheld the judgment of the election tribunal, affirming Okpebholo’s election.
