Imo-based football club, Diana-Emi FC, has unveiled Libra Motors as its official sponsor and its owner as patron.
The proprietor of Diana-Emi FC, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, made this known on Wednesday during the unveiling held at the Imo Football Association office in Owerri.
Mr Ekwueme, a former Super Eagles midfielder and sports administrator, said the partnership would see Libra Motors provide transportation for the team to match venues and other official engagements.
He commended the Imo FA chairman, Ifeanyi Dike, for his transparent leadership, adding that the club was working towards participating in next season’s FA Cup.
Mr Ekwueme also donated 10 match balls, made in Denmark, and 30 branded caps to the Imo FA.
“Diana-Emi FC is part of the Ifeanyi Ekwueme Football Academy, and we are looking at registering for next season’s FA Cup.
“We will continue to support grassroots football development and the overall growth of the round leather game in Imo and beyond,” he said.
The South-East regional manager of Libra Transport, Emmanuel Okereke, expressed the company’s readiness for the partnership.
Mr Okereke described the partnership as part of its commitment to sports development.
Mr Dike thanked Mr Ekwueme for his support and urged other well-meaning Imo indigenes to emulate the gesture.
He added that the state would continue to excel in football administration and talent discovery for sports development in Nigeria. NAN
