The police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has confirmed that a decomposed body of a man was discovered in a car parked outside the annex gate of the national assembly complex in Abuja.
Mr Audu Bi-Allah, director of information at the national assembly, also confirmed the incident.
The deceased, who is suspected to be a labourer at a construction site within the complex, was found in a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR-577 BF at about 9am on Sunday, and the body was Immediately evacuated to the national assembly clinic for medical confirmation, and afterward to the Asokoro general hospital where the body was rejected due to advance decomposing.
However, he was later buried at a location in the FCT.
Confirming the incident, Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the FCT police command said in a statement on Monday that,
“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), National Assembly division, immediately responded to the call and, upon arrival, discovered the deceased inside a red Peugeot 406 motor vehicle with registration number BWR-577 BF,” she said.
“The body was promptly evacuated to Asokoro General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed that it was already in an advanced state of decomposition.”
Adeh added that Ajao Olawale, FCT commissioner of police, has ordered a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
