After months of failed negations, an Israeli source has revealed that Hamas latest response to the Gaza ceasefire deals proposed by Israel is workable, raising hope of a possible truce in the nearly two years old conflict.
Hamas had in a statement early Thursday confirmed that it sent the proposal to mediators.
In the response which Israel is studying includes amendments on aid entry, Israeli troop withdrawals, and guarantees for a permanent truce.
The development comes a day after more than 100 charity and human rights groups said that Israel’s blockade and ongoing military offensive are pushing Palestinians in the Gaza Strip toward starvation.
Experts say Gaza is at risk of famine because of Israel’s blockade and the offensive launched in response to Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack.
