he president-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, John Azuta-Mbata, has urged Igbos across the country to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration to get their Permanent Voter Cards.
Mr Azuta-Mbata made the call in a message signed by Ohanaeze spokesman, Ezechi Chukwu, on Thursday in Enugu.
The Independent National Electoral Commission began registration of new voters and a revalidation exercise on August 25 and to end on December 12.
Mr Azuta-Mbata appealed to Igbos who were of 18 years and above to utilise the opportunity to get their PVCs to be able to vote during elections
“I am calling on Ndigbo wherever you are in Nigeria to quickly go and take advantage of the voter registration that is going on right now to register,” said Mr Azuta-Mbata. “Go and get your card as quickly as possible.”
He equally appealed to the federal government to allow the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, to go for treatment.
He said, “Secondly, I would like to call upon the Federal Government of Nigeria to quickly release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. It is important that the government ensure his safety and his welfare. The government must allow him to go for medical treatment as quickly as possible.
“The government must adopt a political solution to this situation. I do not believe that the government has any serious advantage in keeping him any further,” he said.
