President Bola Tinubu has extended the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, by one year.
Mr. Adeniyi, a former spokesman of the service who is from the Yoruba extraction where the President hails from was due to wrap up his tenure on August 31, 2025.
According to a statement on Thursday by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the extension, approved by President Tinubu will enable Adeniyi to consolidate ongoing reforms and complete critical initiatives of this administration.
“President Tinubu recognises Adeniyi’s steadfast leadership and commitment to service.
“The President is confident that this extension will further strengthen the Nigeria Customs Service in achieving its strategic mandate of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security,” he added.
