Mrs. Ifeyinwa Bridget Okonkwo, a revered matriarch, devoted Christian, and pillar of her community, passed peacefully on July 26, 2025. Born in 1953, she answered the Lord’s call at the age of 72, leaving behind a legacy defined by faith, compassion, resilience, and unwavering commitment to family and service. Indeed, the beloved mother of Daniel Nduka Okonkwo, one of Nigeria’s most fearless human rights advocates and journalists, and the founder of Profiles International Human Rights Advocate, has gone home to be with the Lord.
Born into the esteemed family of Okoye Egwuonwu of Etiti Village, Enugwu-Agidi, and Mariah Okoye Egwuonwu of Nibo, Mrs. Okonkwo was the fifth daughter among seven siblings. She was raised in an environment deeply rooted in communal values, rich cultural heritage, and strong Christian teachings, foundations that shaped her character and guided her life’s journey. These early influences nurtured a woman of grace and strength, whose quiet resolve and moral clarity became hallmarks of her identity.
She was united in holy matrimony with Oyemaechi Donna Okonkwo, affectionately known as “Aka Donna Meche Aguiyi na Ebuogbe na Achalla Village, Enugwu-Agidi.” Together, they built a loving, disciplined, and God-fearing home, raising their children with warmth, integrity, and an abiding sense of purpose. Their union stood as a testament to partnership anchored in faith, mutual respect, and shared values.
A devout Christian to the core, Mrs. Okonkwo dedicated her life to the service of God and humanity. She was widely known for her hospitality, prayerful spirit, generosity, and wise counsel. Actively engaged in church life, she embodied the virtues of righteousness and humility, consistently extending kindness to all. Her faith was not merely professed, it was practiced daily, reflected in her actions, her words, and her unwavering support for those in need.
She was the cherished mother of Daniel Nduka Okonkwo, a renowned human rights advocate, journalist, and the founder and publisher of Profiles International Human Rights Advocate, whose work has appeared across prominent platforms including Google, Sahara Reporters, Igbere TV, Blueprint Newspaper, and others. She was also the proud mother of Pastor Kingsley Chukwudi Okonkwo, founder of Royal Global Power Church, Inc.; Prophet Osita Okonkwo, founder of Osy Outreach; and Nwanneka Simon, a businesswoman. In each of her children, Mrs. Okonkwo’s legacy of purpose, resilience, and steadfast devotion to faith and family continues to shine.
Beyond her immediate family, Mrs. Okonkwo’s nurturing spirit touched generations. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, each profoundly shaped by her love, counsel, and exemplary life. To them, she was not only a mother and grandmother, but also a moral compass and a source of strength.
Mrs. Ifeyinwa Bridget Okonkwo will be fondly remembered as a woman of profound faith, quiet strength, and enduring love, a true matriarch whose influence will resonate for generations. Her life stands as a beacon of devotion, service, and grace, affirming that a life anchored in faith leaves an indelible mark on family, community, and society at large.
