Patty Etete, a former member of the House of Representatives and aide to Nigeria’s Senate President, Goodwill Akpabio, has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Mr Etete, who announced the development in a letter dated 14 March and addressed to the APC chairman of Ward 1 in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, said his move to ADC has become necessary due to the irreconcilable differences within the APC.
“Due to unresolved differences, including interference, exclusion, and strange experiences within the party, I hereby resign from the APC with immediate effect.”
Mr Etete, who represented Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2011, resigned from the ruling party less than three weeks after he resigned his appointment as Mr Akpabio’s senior legislative aide.
He added that working environment at the Senate President’s office became increasingly “difficult”, prompting his resignation.
