The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has appointed Justice Babatunde Adejumo as the incoming Administrator of the National Judicial Institute.
The appointment which takes effect from August 1, 2025, follows the approval of the Board of Governors of the NJI, chaired by Justice Kekere-Ekun.
In a statement on Thursday by the Senior Special Assistant Media to the CJN, Tobi Soniyi, Justice Adejumo will succeed Justice Salisu Abdullahi, whose tenure ends on July 31, 2025, after four years of dedicated and meritorious service.
According to the statement “This appointment was made by the Honourable Chief Justice of Nigeria following due consultation with the Board of Governors, in accordance with the provisions of the National Judicial Institute Act.
“The Honourable Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, expresses her profound appreciation to the outgoing administrator for his tireless commitment and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the Institute and the Nigerian judiciary as a whole.”
The statement noted that Justice Adejumo is a highly respected jurist and seasoned administrator who served with distinction as President of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria until his retirement in 2019.
It added that his wealth of experience and deep understanding of judicial administration are qualities expected to significantly enhance the institute’s efforts in promoting judicial capacity development and institutional innovation.
