Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, caught in a viral video assaulting one of his chiefs, Arinola Abraham, has been charged to court on three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
In a statement on Tuesday signed by Muyiwa Adejobi, force PRO, the police said the case has been adjourned to 6 of March, 2025, after the disgraced Ogun monarch was granted administrative bail.
The statement reads: “The Kabiyesi Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi, who assaulted one elderly man in a viral video, in Ifo Ogun State, has been charged to court today 4th February, 2025, on three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
He was granted bail while the case was adjourned to 06/03/2025. The police will continue to uphold the rule of law and the core values of the noble profession”
Daily Intel recalls that a viral video which sparked outrage surfaced online showing the Ogun Monarch verbally and physically assaulting Arinola.
In the two-minute clip, Arinola was seen kneeling on the road while a man, said to be Ogunjobi, cursed him and his family while accusing him of conspiracy.
The monarch, a retired police officer, was heard in video boasting of his influence over law enforcement agencies, threatening to jail the chief.
