The Kebbi State Government on Thursday approved the appointment of Alhaji Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami as the new Emir of Zuru.
The new Emir was named after the death Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sami (Gomo II), who passed away on August 16, 2025, in a London hospital after a brief illness.
According to the State’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Garba Umar Dutsin-Mari, the emir emerged after securing the highest number of votes in the selection process conducted by the Zuru Emirate kingmakers.
He disclosed that three candidates were screened by the emirship election committee before Sami was recommended to the governor.
“Out of the three candidates considered, Alhaji Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami received the highest votes and was duly selected to ascend the throne,” Dutsin-Mari stated.
The commissioner expressed gratitude to the governor for swiftly approving the appointment and urged the new traditional ruler to justify the confidence reposed in him.
He further advised the Emir to rule with fairness, justice, and the fear of God, while preserving the legacies of his late predecessor.
