The National Primary Health Care Development Agency,NPHCDA , has announced plan by members of its Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, to stage a peaceful protest on Thursday at the Ministry of Defence in Abuja, to demand that the Nigeria Air Force desist from further harrassment and intimidation of its members and immediately vacate the cooperative land.
The agency alleged that a few weeks ago, armed NAF operatives invaded their 13.5-hectare property at Hulumi Village, Idu, Abuja, chasing away property owners and detaining some members.
The agency explained that the said land was acquired in 2006 and regularized by the Federal Capital Territory Administration in 2012, adding that until the Nigeria Air Force invasion, it has enjoyed uninterrupted and peaceful possession of the land.
The Cooperative had in a petition to the Minister of FCT, Mr Nyesom Wike, alleged forceful take over of the said land by the Nigeria Air Force, calling on him to intervene in the matter.
Speaking to Daily Intel Newspaper in an exclusive interviews on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Cooperative, Mr Emmanuel Odoh disclosed that the protest would take place on Thursday (tomorrow).
“We are going to picket the office of the Defence Ministry in Abuja on Thursday to press for our demands. All we are saying is that they should vacate the land.
“The land is for staff and retirees, though some members sold to outsiders. It was divided into Phase 1 and Phase 2. The NAF has its estate near ours,” he said.
