A coalition of organisations against corruption in Nigeria on Friday called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ,ICPC, to investigate the alleged fraudulent disbursement of N380 million to contractors without stating the project by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency ,NPHCDA.
According to the group, the suspicious payments were made to five companies.
The group, in a press release signed by Mr. Adamu Musa and made available to journalist in Lafia, the state capital called for immediate action, adding that such transactions undermine the government’s commitment to financial transparency.
The group said “On September 14, the NPHCDA disbursed about N380 million to various contractors, but failed to provide any specific details regarding what the payments were for.
“This contravenes the 2021 directive on the Open Treasury Portal, which mandates that all federal agencies disclose detailed information about payments exceeding N5 million.
“We call on the EFCC and ICPC to investigate these transactions and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. Public funds should be used responsibly and transparently.”
The could not be reached NPHCDA for clarification as the phone numbers provided on the agency’s website for inquiries were unreachable as of the time of filing this report.
