The Trump administration has revealed that medical doctors may be exempted from the new visa policy which requires skilled workers seeking to enter into the US to pay $100,000 application fee.
The White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers, said in an email to Bloomberg News on Monday that the Trump administration was exploring a possibility to exempt doctors from the new visa policy.
“The Proclamation allows for potential exemptions, which can include physicians and medical residents,” White House
Daily Intel reported that the new policy was introduced due to what the Trump administration described as “abuse” of the programme.
Daily Intel also reported that the policy took effect on 21 September, 2025.
Until now, the skilled workers visa also know as H-1B visas programme attracts administrative fees totalling about $1,500.
The visa which allows foreign workers entry into the US was reviewed after president Trump signed an executive order increasing the annual fee to $100,000.
