The apex Igbo socio-cultural and political organization, worldwide, the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), has called out the hypocrisy and betrayal of Southeast political leaders, accusing them of being the biggest obstacles to the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
In a statement on Thursday, in Owerri, the Imo State Capital, the group’s National President, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, alleged that the deliberate silence, double-speak, and self-serving body language of Governors Charles Soludo, Francis Nwifuru, Peter Mbah, Hope Uzodimma, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, and their cohorts are the reasons the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration continues to keep Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in detention.
“These men have sold out Ndigbo for Abuja crumbs. While our son rots in detention, they are busy dining with our oppressors and promising them votes they cannot deliver,” Igboayaka stated.
Mr Igboayaka declared that history will remember South-East political leaders as saboteurs who traded the freedom of their people for personal political gain.
He called on President Bola Tinubu to overrule self-serving Southeast Governors and free Nnamdi Kanu, insisting that Kanu remains a political prisoner.
“These Abuja errand boys are the roadblock. But President Tinubu must dam their selfish interests and release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to over 50 million Igbo youths across the globe. The world is watching,” Igboayaka stated.
The Ohanaeze Youth wing urged Igbo youths and lovers of freedom not to boycott the 2027 election in the Southeast, rather, they should mobilize and retire all “political saboteurs, profiteers oppressors, vultures and criminals masquerading as southeast Governors, Senators, House of Representative members, whose only duty is to sneak into Aso Rock to gossip to Bola Tinubu not to release Nnamdi Kanu so they can continue with treasury looting in Southeast.”
