President Bola Tinubu has suspended his scheduled trips to South Africa and Angola to attend the 20th G20 Summit and the 7th AU-EU Summit, over the increasing attacks by Fulani terrorists.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
The decision follows the abduction of 24 schoolgirls in Kebbi and a violent attack by bandits on worshippers at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara State.
The statement said in response to a request from the Kwara State Governor, the President has ordered the immediate deployment of additional military and police personnel to Eruku and the entire Ekiti Local Government Area.
He also directed law enforcement authorities to pursue the perpetrators of the church attack and ensure the protection of citizens in vulnerable communities.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, who recently visited Kebbi on behalf of the President, is expected to provide updates on the security situation, alongside reports from the Nigeria Police Force and the State Security Service, SSS.
President Tinubu reiterated his directive to the security agencies to take “all necessary measures” to rescue the kidnapped schoolgirls and ensure their safe return.
