The planning committee for the 2025 Africa Women Conference comprising Nigeria and other African countries has been constituted.
Dr. Jumai Ahmadu, AWC Co-convener said in a statement that the purpose is to provide a structured approach for planning and execution of the 2025 Africa Women Conference.
She explained that at the last AWC held in Zambia, it was decided that the AWC Next-will be the chapter to plan for AWC 2025.
According to the statement, members of the planning committee includes: Aisha A. Adamu, Chairperson, Joseph Yaba, Blessing Ogogo Ugbem, and Shetu J. Gamaliel. The statement stated that other members will be identified by the committee from across other Africa countries.
The statement further stated that the conference goals aligned with AWC’s mission of empowering women and addressing critical issues affecting women across Africa.
“This decision is part of our practical mentorship program to empower the next generation of African women for purposeful leadership. It is very important to note that the Africa Women Conference Next Generation are responsible for the planning of this year’s conference.
” We are not just planning an event but to pave the way for a future where women across Africa can thrive, lead, and inspire.
” Our diverse committee embodies the strength, creativity, and resilience of women from all corners of our continent. Together, we will create a platform that amplifies voices, shares experiences, and fosters collaboration” the statement said.
The statement stressed that “this conference will be an opportunity to address the challenges we face, showcase our successes, and empower one another. It is a call to action for gender equality, economic empowerment, and social change.
” As we embark on this journey, let us be guided by our shared vision i.e. one of unity, growth, and progress. I believe that through our collective efforts, we will make a meaningful impact on the lives of women everywhere”.
While thanking committee members for their commitment and passion, Dr. Ahmadu urged them to ensure that the conference served as inspiration to generations to come.
