Air India has announced the cancellation of all flights to and from Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia until October 17, 2026, citing security concerns.
The development comes amid continued disruption of air travel in the region.
In a statement on Tuesday, the airline announced the decision in a travel advisory shared on its official X, saying the affected passengers would receive full refunds for cancelled bookings, while the airline monitors developments to determine when it can safely resume operations.
“In view of the evolving situation in Saudi Arabia, all Air India flights to and from Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah stand cancelled until 17 October 2026,” the airline said.
Air India added that it was closely monitoring the situation and assessing developments before restoring services. It also said the safety and security of passengers and crew remained its highest priority.
The cancellations come as Saudi Arabia faces major aviation disruptions following attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh.
The Saudi authorities had extended the airport’s closure until October 17 to allow safety checks and procedures to ensure its facilities were ready for operations.
The disruption has also forced other international airlines to change their schedules.
Air France-KLM extended its suspension of flights to Riyadh until the end of October, while Lufthansa Group cancelled services to the Saudi capital until October 16.
Etihad Airways and Qatar Airways also announced flight suspensions affecting Saudi destinations.
The cancellations are part of wider disruptions to air travel across the Middle East amid escalating regional tensions and security threats.
Aviation authorities have also issued warnings concerning operations in the region, prompting airlines to review their flight schedules and safety measures.
Air India has not announced whether the cancellations will continue beyond October 17.
Passengers travelling to or from Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah should check their flight status through the airline’s official channels before leaving for the airport and contact the airline regarding refunds or alternative travel arrangements.
