The United States has placed $20 million reward for information on the “relocation” of Iran’s nuclear program, urging anybody with information to visit its website and submit a tip to claim the reward.
In a statement posted on X on Friday, by the US Central Command, a State Department programme, Rewards for Justice, said it “is offering a reward of up to $20 million and possible relocation for information about Iran’s nuclear program, including its facilities, equipment, and associated personnel, such as those in the scientific community,”
The announcement comes against a backdrop of long-standing international concerns over Iran’s nuclear activities.
In 2025, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported that Iran was enriching uranium to 60 per cent purity, a level that is only a short technical step from the 90 per cent purity required for a nuclear weapon.
The US and Israel launched strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025, targeting key sites associated with the country’s nuclear activities.
After the operation, Trump described the sites as having been “completely and totally obliterated.” However, subsequent assessments indicated the programme had been degraded rather than fully eliminated.
On 28 February 2026, US and Israel launched a larger military campaign against Iran, saying they wanted to prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
The operation, which led to the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in its opening phase, escalated into a wider conflict after Iran retaliated. The war disrupted shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and plunged oil prices.
