Bandits have reportedly killed 30 Zamfara State travellers, along the Magami–Dansadau highway.
Daily Intel Newspaper gathered that the incident which occurred on Sunday evening, was one of the deadliest attacks on the route in 2026.
Speaking on the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara Community Protection Guard, Malam Abubakar Gummi, disclosed that the attackers targeted motorists and commuters between Magami and Gusau, opening fire on vehicles in a coordinated ambush.
Abubakar added that 21 civilians, 8 local hunters, and one community protection guard were killed in the assault.
“During the gun duel, scores of bandits have been neutralised,” he stated.
Though he did not give an exact figure for militants casualties and the police in the state has yet to comment on the matter.
The Magami–Dansadau highway has long been a flashpoint for banditry in Zamfara South, with frequent attacks on travelers, farmers, and traders despite ongoing military and community-led operations in the area.
