At least, three person was reported killed following an attack by gunmen suspected to be Fulani terrorists on Ochipu community in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Ochipu is an Igala-dominated community but is geophysically situated in Bassa local government.
While details surrounding the incident still remain unclear, a resident of the community confirmed a video of the incident circulating the internet.
In the video, three victims of the attack were seen lying on the ground with visible cuts and blood stains, while grieving relatives are heard wailing in the background.
Kogi State is among the states experiencing recurring attacks, killings, and kidnappings by terrorists and armed bandits.
For instance, in April, gunmen abducted the wife of an orphanage proprietor and 23 pupils during a late-night attack on an unregistered school facility, identified as Daarul-Kitab Islamic Training Centre, in Zariagi along the Kabba Junction axis of Lokoja, Kogi State.
The attack reportedly occurred on Sunday, April 26, 2026, when heavily armed assailants stormed the premises and whisked away the victims.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, later confirmed that 15 of the abducted pupils were rescued through the swift intervention of security agencies.
Last week, authorities also announced that troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, successfully rescued the remaining nine victims abducted from the facility.
