The National Judicial Council, NJC, has reportedly approved three-month extension in office for Imo State Acting Chief Judge, Justice Ijeoma Agugua.
Governor Hope Uzodimma had In July last year appointment Agugua, who was called to the bar in 1981, in acting capacity, pending the appointment of substantive Chief Judge.
However, the NJC at its 110th Meeting held in Abuja on January 13, 2026, granted Agugua an extension.
While announcing the extension, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Honourable Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, who presided over the NJC meeting urged Imo State Governor to “immediately commence the process of constituting the State Judicial Service Commission to enable the appointment of a substantive Chief Judge of Imo State.”
