Wife of the late kidnapped ex-Nigerian army general Rabe Abubakar, has been reportedly rescued in what the military dubbed as ‘ clearance operation’.
Abubakar, who served as army spokesperson during his military stint, was kidnapped alongside his wife while traveling in Katsina state.
After spending about two weeks in captivity, the Katsina State government in statement announced his passing. The statement disclosed that the ex-General died from hypertension and diabetic complications, a claim that was immediately rejected by his family.
According to the wife’s reported rescued, sources within the Military authorities disclosed that the rescue was carried out by troops during ongoing clearance and search operations targeting criminal elements responsible for kidnappings and other security threats.
The source also disclosed that the widow has since been reunited with her family and is receiving necessary medical attention and support.
The development comes few days after the President Bola Tinubu administration came under criticism with many questioning how Abubakar’s body was retrieved from the kidnappers for burial while his wife remained in captivity.
